She believes that every woman and person is the expert in their own body so she practices a client-centered, shared decision-making model of care.

Years of rigorous medical training have equipped Odessa with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve maternal-child outcomes.  Odessa attributes everything she knows about being an outstanding midwife to the clients who taught her how to partner with, advocate for, and be with them.

Odessa has spent over a decade serving systematically disadvantaged populations.  Throughout her career, Odessa has witnessed the devastating clinical manifestations of social determinants of health in the lives of BIPOC persons. These observations have inspired Odessa to acquire extensive knowledge and speak publicly about the non-medical factors that impact health and the development of chronic disease generationally.

Odessa has a passion for contraceptive and adolescent reproductive health education including sex, sexuality, and relationships with a focus on the caregiver-child dialogue.  These sessions are great for parent groups including parent-teacher associations and can be offered in large or more intimate settings including to individual families. Odessa also specializes in trainings on prenatal care, labor and birth, the fourth trimester of pregnancy, newborn care, and lactation all tailored to the unique needs of her clients. 

Odessa views motherhood as the ability to bring to fruition the sacred things of the Spirit making it a Divine Calling.  Odessa asserts motherhood is a profoundly transformative journey that encompasses both immense joys and indescribable challenges. Odessa believes that the bond between a mother and child is unparalleled with the most intimate connections occurring while the still gestating Soul is yet in the womb.

Odessa considers motherhood pregnant with the opportunity to witness the miracle of life and play an irreplaceable role in shaping the future of generations.  Templating the consciousness of her children and witnessing their becoming is one of Odessa’s most valued and cherished roles.  Odessa’s debut into motherhood was hallmarked by two incredible home birth experiences which both sons hold as sacrosanct.
